The hotel is named after its 19th century estate house, Casa Mãe which stands proudly on one of the highest points of Lagos and overlooks the old city and the terraced vegetable garden. This sunny casa has been carefully renovated, we revived its original character combining it with modern luxury comfort and furnished with an eclectic selection of Portuguese vintage pieces and contemporary furniture.
On the ground floor you’ll find our quiet living room and our casual fine dining pop up restaurant with its romantic terrace tucked-in between the house and the old city walls. The five suites are all located on the first floor where the Algarvian light shines in the rooms from the many guillotine windows and French balconies. Each of the five suites has its own character and originality, and the charm and elegance that suit this bright sunny casa…
Our three cabanas are located between the aromatic plants of the garden. They follow the traditional Algarvian rustic architecture with a contemporary twist, designed to chill out on the spacious private patios with hammocks and outdoor showers. This is the choice for those seeking sun, tranquility and privacy. Plenty of plants, scents of herbs and trees - the set-up for a peaceful private dinner outside.
JOGO DA BOLA
Jogo da bola is our largest and brand-new building - contemporary and minimalist but with much local context with floors in handmade terracotta sundried in the Algarve, and a façade of wooden panels inspired by the traditional Algarvian reixas, screening the balconies from the sun while letting through light and air. The spacious rooms on the first and second floor have between 25m2 and 40m2 inside and terraces or verandas between 10m2 and 22m2. The terraces of the second floor are open to the blue sky, some facing our garden, others the city and some even see a glimpse of the sea! The verandas of the first floor are protected by the wooden reixas, and designed as a natural extension of the inside.
Expect modern design, generous volumes, king size bed, walk-in rain shower, free-standing bathtub, hammock and the perfect scenery for a breakfast in the sun…
